Alicia embraced her role as a cool mom, diving headfirst into the day’s activities, which included strapping on a harness to tackle a tree-top obstacle course. She’s been enjoying a laid-back vacation with her husband Swizz Beatz in Corsica, part of their European getaway to celebrate their anniversary.
Alicia expressed her deep love for Swizz in a heartfelt message on social media, calling him her ‘twin flame.’ In the post, she wrote, “Soulmates, Deeper than soulmates, Twin flames, An existential earthquake, My soul’s mirror,” as she celebrated their journey together and looked forward to many more years of happiness.
Alicia and Swizz’s relationship began with a slow start; they first met as teenagers in the 1990s, but Alicia wasn’t initially interested in him romantically. However, as they spent more time together at industry events, their connection grew, and they eventually began dating in 2008. After he proposed to her in 2010, the couple took a trip to Hawaii, where Alicia became pregnant with their son, Egypt, and they got married that summer in Corsica.
In her autobiography “More Myself,” Alicia recalled her initial impressions of Swizz, noting that he usually arrived at events in flashy cars, surrounded by his Bronx entourage, and adorned with diamonds, which didn’t appeal to her. However, as they worked together musically, she saw a deeper side of him, admiring his intelligence and sense of humor.
Alicia has been more open about her journey toward vulnerability, explaining that she used to project a tough image to shield her emotions, but now she embraces her softer side. She shared in an interview with The Telegraph that as she’s matured, she’s grown comfortable with showing vulnerability, emphasizing that it’s a healthier way to live.Alicia, now in her 40s, feels more connected to herself, noting she’s no longer a pushover and has started to break down the “steel wall” she built during her earlier career.
The singer also spoke about the pressure she felt from music industry executives to conform to certain standards, which partly influenced her decision to go makeup-free in public, a stance she took in 2016. Though Alicia sometimes wears makeup now, she does so on her own terms, feeling no compulsion to meet others’ expectations.
