Aitana Bonmatí and Pedro Gonzálеz “Pedri” were honored with the 13th Barça Players Award on Monday afternoon. This award, presented by the FC Barcelona Players Association, recognizes their fair play during the past season. The president of the Association, Juan Manuel Asensi, presented the award to the FC Barcelona players at an event held at the Spotify Camp Nou Auditorium.
Aitana Bonmatí received the distinction for the second consecutive time, with the jury highlighting her leadership qualities. They specifically mentioned gestures like displaying her runner-up medal in Turin, emphasizing the team’s journey despite losing the final. Aitana expressed that the past season was special and filled with exciting moments, considering reaching the Champions League final a great success.
Pedri was chosen by the jury for his humility and modesty, despite having the admiration of fans. He serves as a role model for younger generations of culers. Pedri emphasized the importance of players staying grounded and being aware that they are points of reference, especially for younger fans.
Juan Manuel Asensi, the president of the Association, recalled the values of union, sacrifice, and work during his time at Barça. The Barça Players Award process involved popular votes from fans to choose the player with the most fair play. A jury then selected the winners from the six most voted players in both the мen’s and woмen’s categories.
The jury included individuals such as the general secretary of Sport, Anna Caula, the director of the Barça Foundation, Marta Segú, and representatives of the media. The Barça Players Award, recognizing values, has been awarded since 2010, with previous recipients including Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Leo Messi, Alexia Putellas, and others.
