Barcelona, having missed out on 17-year-old Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham Hotspur, is now setting their sights on 19-year-old Benfica forward Jose Melro.

 Melro, with a remarkable record of 13 goals in 16 games for Benfica’s under-23 side, is being pursued by Barcelona to enhance their teenage talent recruitment strategy. 

As Melro’s contract is set to expire in less than 18 months, Barcelona believes they can secure the deal and compete with other clubs for promising young players like Melro before they establish themselves in the first team
