Rasmus Hojlund made history by breɑking a long-standing record held by Cristiano Ronaldo with his recent goal for Manchester United. The Dane scored during Thursday night’s 4-3 victory over Wolves, doubling United’s lead after assisting Rashford’s goal in the fifth minute at Molineux.
This marks the second consecutive occasion where Hojlund both scored and provided an assist in the Premier League, making him the youngest player in Manchester United’s history to achieve this feat at 20 years and 362 days old. The previous record, set in 2007 by Cristiano Ronaldo, was at 21 years old.
Notably, Hojlund’s goal against Wolves was the first in the league that a Manchester United teammate assisted him in scoring. Prior to Luke Shaw setting him up, his last two league goals were unassisted. The 20-year-old’s recent performances suggest a determination to make an impact, especially after expressing frustration during the FA Cup match against Newport on Sunday.
Despite not being served adequately in recent games, Hojlund has now scored in three consecutive Premier League matches, showcasing a turnaround in form. Since joining from Atalanta in the summer, he has scored five goals and provided two assists in 27 games.
