Liverpool rejected a bold move from Nottingham Forest to acquire goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Despite Forest offering a £15 million deal for the 25-year-old, Liverpool is unwilling to part ways with him. Highly regarded as the understudy to Alisson Becker, Kelleher’s capabilities have attracted interest from various clubs. While Liverpool values him at over £20 million, they consider him essential, especially as they compete on multiple fronts in pursuit of trophies.
Liverpool acknowledges the £19 million transfer of James Trafford from Manchester City to Burnley and deems Caoimhin Kelleher to be at a more advanced stage of development with greater potential. Kelleher possesses European experience and has played at the full international level. Nottingham Forest, in their pursuit of goalkeeping options, ultimately secured Strasbourg’s Matz Sels, who is currently undergoing a medical examination. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team also explored options with Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone, Real Betis’ Rui Silva, and other goalkeepers.
