The latest entry into the realm of eSports is David de Gea, the former goalkeeper for Manchester United, who has ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing his own gaming team.

Acknowledged as one of the top goalkeepers for Manchester United, David de Gea recently announced the creation of an eSports team named Rebels Gaming. Initially focused on playing League of Legends, Valorant, and Rainbow Six Siege, Rebels Gaming aims to expand beyond these three titles.

In addition to competitive gaming, the team plans to support streamers and content creators by providing financial assistance. De Gea’s team will also boast its training center in Valdebebas, Madrid.

Expressing his excitement, David de Gea shared, “It’s a dream come true for me to start Rebels Gaming and work in the eSports business.” He emphasized that the project aims to generate enthusiasm among young individuals and expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his football career.

Rebels Gaming, in a press release, mentioned that a group of eSports experts will be involved in the project, although specific details about the team members have not been disclosed yet.

This move places David de Gea among the growing number of football players exploring opportunities in the eSports industry. Jesse Lingard, a teammate of De Gea, previously initiated the JLINGZ Esports group, while Sergio Agüero, formerly of Manchester City and now with Krü Esports, also made a similar transition from football to eSports.
