According to The Athletic, Manchester United is actively seeking to bolster its attacking lineup in January 2024. In the 20th round of the Premier League, the Red Devils suffered a 1-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, showcasing vulnerabilities in their defense and further highlighting their inconsistent form.

Currently standing in 7th place after 20 matches, Manchester United attributes part of its struggles to a lackluster aттack, having scored only 22 goals this season—just slightly better than Sheffield United’s 15 goals. The team faces challenges with Rasmus Hojlund’s inexperience and Anthony Martial’s prolonged underperformance.

In response to these issues, Manchester United is reportedly planning to pursue a loan deal for Bayern Munich’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Athletic suggests that the player, who has seen limited playing time under coach Thomas Tuchel, could provide a much-needed boost to United’s attacking prowess. Choupo-Moting demonstrated his talent by scoring 17 goals across all competitions last season.

Due to financial fair play constraints, Manchester United is exploring loan options similar to the successful recruitment of Odion Ighalo in January 2020. Ighalo made valuable contributions, providing additional attacking options for the team. RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is also under consideration as a potential addition.
