Teddy Sheringham: Wingers’ Selfishness Likely Frustrates Rasmus Hojlu𝚗d
Former Manchester United player Teddy Sheringham suggested that Rasmus Hojlund might not be entirely satisfied with his wingers, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, despite their scoring and assisting performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Within three minutes of the game, Hojlund scored his second Premier League goal of the season after Rashford’s attempt was intercepted. Despite this fortunate turn of events, Sheringham believes Hojlund might still have reason to be frustrated.
Sheringham commented, “I think it was a great goal from him to start the game off yesterday. I quite like him as a striker. I simply observe Manchester United’s style of play. He isn’t really fed to score goals—even the one he scored yesterday.”
The former player expressed concern that the wingers, cutting in and taking their own shots instead of providing crosses, may not be effectively supporting Hojlund. Sheringham emphasized the importance of occasionally reaching the byline and delivering balls into the box for the striker to capitalize on.
While acknowledging Rashford’s ability to sprint towards goal, Sheringham suggested that a more collaborative approach, occasionally producing opportunities for Hojlund, would benefit Manchester United’s overall performance.
