Rooney, who was terminated from his role as Birmingham’s manager after only 15 games in charge earlier this month, saw Manchester United and Tottenham play to a 2-2 draw on Sunday. The club’s performance had deteriorated under his management, dropping from sixth place to twenty-first in the Championship, with only two wins out of 15 games.

When Rooney took over in October, Birmingham was in sixth place, but by the time of his departure, they were just six points above the relegation zone, holding the worst record in the division.

This marked Rooney’s third managerial role, following his playing stints with Derby in the Championship and DC United in Major League Soccer. His assignment at Birmingham was to instill a “no-feɑr” football philosophy.
