Pedri made a comeback in Barcelona’s Sᴜpercopa semi-final victory over Osasuna as a substitute. The question now is whether he will be in the starting lineup against Real Madrid in the final.
Barcelona is set to face Real Madrid in the Spanish Sᴜper Cup final, and manager Xavi has provided an update on Pedri’s condition. Pedri played his first game for Barcelona since sustaining a muscular injᴜry in mid-December, coming on as a substitute for Sergio Roberto in the 61st minute. Xavi confirmed that Pedri has fully recovered and is prepared to start in the Sᴜper Cup final against Real Madrid on Sunday.
Responding to questions about Pedri’s starting status in the post-match press conference, Xavi stated, “Yes, he’s (Pedri) fine. I talked to him and he’s ready, yes.”
When asked about the possibility of fielding a four-man midfield in the final, Xavi mentioned, “I don’t rule out anything. We’ll prepare for this match in the best way. I haven’t decided the plan nor the starting XI for the final. We don’t know how the players have ended today, considering fatigue and injuries.”
In the previous match, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal scored for Barcelona in a convincing 2-0 victory over Osasuna. Yamal, at 16 years old, became the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history with a late strike.
Looking ahead, Barcelona’s next challenge is the Spanish Sᴜper Cup final against Real Madrid on Sunday. They aim to replicate their performance from the previous season when they defeated their arch-rivals 3-1 to claim the title, and Xavi expresses confidence in their ability to achieve a similar result this time.
