Sadio Mane and his teenage wife (pictured together) are not going on honeymoon because she has been made to return to school in preparation for her final exams, MailOnline can reveal, after footage posted online showed her being greeted by classmates

The decision stems from the fact that Aisha Tamba, aged 18, has returned to school to prepare for her final exams, following their Islamic marriage ceremony on January 7 in Dakar.

The former Liverpool star married Aisha Tamba in an Islamic ceremony on January 7 in Keur Massar, a suburb in the capital city of Dakar, just six days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations on January 13

The former Liverpool star, currently part of the Senegal squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, had initially planned a post-tournament honeymoon, but Aisha’s family has prioritized her academic commitments, particularly her upcoming baccalaureate exams scheduled for this summer.

Moussa Ndiaye, Mane’s close friend and confidant, expressed that Mane had hoped for a honeymoon after the tournament, depending on Senegal’s performance.

However, Aisha’s family is adamant about her prioritizing education. With crucial exams approaching, they want her to concentrate on her studies without any disruptions from the marriage. They believe there will be ample opportunities for vacations later in her life, emphasizing that her academic pursuits must take precedence.

Moussa Ndiaye, Mane’s close friend, disclosed, “Even though she is now married to Sadio, who is the most famous man in Senegal, she is still a schoolgirl and needs to complete her studies.” Aisha attends the all-girls Cabis school in Mbao, on the outskirts of Dakar, and returned to classes recently. Her return was met with an exuberant welcome from fellow students who cheered for her and Mane, referring to her as ‘Madame Sadio Mane.’

Mane revealed his happiness at tying the knot when speaking to reporters earlier this week

Ndiaye provided insights into Mane’s marriage journey, revealing that Mane first noticed Aisha in early 2020 during a brief visit home to Senegal while playing for Liverpool. Mane, who became the most expensive African player in history when he signed with Liverpool in 2016 for ÂŁ34 million, expressed his interest in marrying her to Ndiaye.

Aisha's father Amadou Tamba said Mane first set eyes on his daughter 'over two years ago'

He shared, “He asked me to return to Senegal to speak to her and her family and give my opinion, which I did. I knew straight away that she was the right woman for him.” After the 2020 Premier League season, Mane formally informed his family of his intention to marry Aisha, with Ndiaye conveying the proposal to her parents via Mane’s uncle.

The couple had their first proper meeting and conversation in the summer, with Aisha’s family agreeing to the marriage proposal. However, they insisted on waiting to allow her to “get to know” her future husband, taking her age into consideration.
