Liverpool’s star player, Mohamed Salah, recently opened up about his fonÔ€ness for online chess, admitting to engaging in the game Ô€aily with various opponents.

 The highly acclaimed Egyptian forward, recognized as one of the world’s top football talents, expressed his desire to face Magnus Carlsen, the five-time world chess champion. 

Salah said that he wishes to play five-time champion Carlsen some day.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Salah acknowledged his chess addiction, revealing that he uses an alias to play anonymously and playfully confirming and denying his identity when questioned by opponents.

While Salah modestly acknowledges that he doesn’t match Magnus Carlsen’s extraordinary skills, he considers himself a proficient player with an approximate rating of 1400. Carlsen, known for his football enthusiasm and admiration for Salah, responded positively to the invitation, expressing interest with a simple emoji on Twitter. Interestingly, Salah’s teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold had previously faced Carlsen in an exhibition match in 2018, resulting in Alexander-Arnold’s defeat after just 17 moves.

Salah expressed his wish to play against the five-time champion Carlsen someday. On GiveMeSport, Salah stated, “I play chess, I am aÔ€Ô€icteÔ€ to chess. Every day, literally every day. ♟️ I’m good, I’m not Magnus [Carlsen], but I’m good. I’m 1400 [ELO Rating].”

Beyond his football prowess, Salah has ventured into other sports, mentioning his skills in paddle tennis, occasional tennis matches, and surprisingly respectable performances in golf. With a playful remark, Salah jokingly acknowledged that his golf skills might not adhere to the traditional English style but are commendable for an Egyptian. His diverse interests and eagerness to embrace new challenges beyond football underscore his versatility as an athlete.
